It took years for my mother to admit she had a substatnce dependency. Her addiction caused much pain and sorrow in our family and childhood was not very pleasant for me. As I got older and figured out that my mother was actually suffering from a substatnce dependency I decided to find help for her. My mother went into addiction counseling two years ago and today she is the mother I always wanted her to be.

Drug and alcohol problems took my son away from our family when he was only 18 years old. We didn't know at the time that he was even using drugs. We thought our son was just frustrated with school and dealing with finals was hard on him. If we had known he was dealing with a drug and alcohol problems maybe we could have saved his life.
